Appalachian Eyes
trails of tears
on native face
amid the beauty
of their home place
for what they’ve left
by force, deceived
native souls
so long aggrieved
it’s over now
their joys unrightly mine
as i’ve come to know
a native peace, in time
their spirits linger on here
i feel them all around
when it rains in Cataloochee
Cherokee tears pour down

Great one, Brooks. Spring time awakens us to nature each year. And nature often reminds us of our early heritage. You have verbalized this reminder very nicely. Thanks
